It annoys me that FB and Instagram have people by the balls. People have their entire family histories on these platforms. Of course, one can export their history. Would love for @bsky.app to add a feature that will pull in those exports into BlueSky.

So I joined others in boycotting meta for a week beginning the 20th. It’s been really hard, to tell you the truth. Especially with so much Orange nonsense flooding the news.

If you find that your uninformed personal opinion disagrees with expert consensus on a technical topic, please consider that “all the experts know something I don’t” is a much more likely explanation than “I alone solved a complex problem that all the world’s experts have long been studying.”

The platforms are tools of power integral to political propaganda machines. Every politician and activist knows this.
And Congress couldn’t get it together to pass legislation ensuring the most basic transparency or data access over the last 3 years so we could at least understand how they’re used.
