OMG. I had never seen a Painted Bunting until we moved here in 2003. We usually get 4 or 5 pairs hanging out from late spring until late summer every year. Males with their bold colors versus pale green females. We live about 40 miles inland from Charleston in swamp, forest, farm land.

We live in SC. We have always had painted buntings, but we were here about 5 years before we saw our first Indigo. We now usually get a pair every year!
