Got it thanks! First time looking at the raw data. So the dots on the Mastcam -Z images are the camera background noise and the streaks are the stars. Background goes away when you combine and the comet “smudge” is discernible, and the stars look like lines.

Thanks for that link. When I zoom in to the timelapse sequence from the Right Mastcam-Z camera there are many streaks going from upper right to bottom left … what are those?? Also… There is a lot of “news” saying the
photo from the Navcam is 3I/Atlas. But isn’t this just a star? Thanks
