It’s not the people around them getting arrested. It’s the indiscriminate, racist manner with which they are conducting their policy. Just for being a minority, even if you’re an American born here, you can be arrested. They didn’t expect that.

But nor should my aid be taken for granted. Choices have consequences. Maybe this is cold, but then, I worry about ICE and my family a little bit every day, despite all of us in my family being American, where I never worried about that stuff before. My sympathy is eroding.

I don’t think the point is about inflicting pain or injury. I think the point is that it was made clear that this situation was going to happen, to the detriment of many. Why then should I come to the aid of someone, at cost or risk to myself, who would never do the same for me? I don’t wish harm ->
