This is the only bird species that I have ever seen use the sun on a regular basis for solar heat besides vultures. This male fluffs the feathers on his back to warm himself.
We call this guy Big Daddy because he is the dominant male in our neighborhood. He's claimed our yard & water dish.

I wish more people were aware of how perfectly balanced nature is. We have brought bees, birds, lizards and so many other critters home by growing pesticide & herbicide free gardens. It's amazing. Plus, the bounty of fruits & vegetables saves us $$$.

Now that the Consumer Protection Agency is gone, we are being scammed. Fannie Mae is a private organization chartered by the US government to serve the public interest. Always question these types of notices. Home warranties are NOT required. Home insurance IS required. Don't be scammed.

A little bit off the subject of gardening, unless you grow tomatos & have tomato horn worms. Here is pic of a Manduca Hawk Moth, aka Tomato Horn Moth. We have Desert Willow trees, which serve as a larvae food. My tomatoes are netted. They are beautiful & large. This one is 3 inches long. ABQ, NM

Breakfast is becoming more expensive, and it's not just eggs. According to the web, Oatley, Ardent, Quaker Oats, and Bob's Red Mill source their oats from Canada. The US imports about 80% of oats from Canada.

This is our Purple Robe Locust (Robinia psuedoacacia) tree. It's so beautiful in the spring and grows well in New Mexico. However, it can be invasive and spreads though root suckers.

Nice pic of the female Greater Roadrunner in our neighborhood. She is snapping up meal worms. Her mate is much larger and offered her a big fat lizard last weekto start their family. I now see them paired up and running together.
