An 11-year-old interviewed me about sustainable transportation today. He shared his families’ rule: ‘If it’s more than 45, we bus, train or drive’

…and by 45 he means minutes. Give me hope for the future. Let’s make it a thing!

Succinctly: it will never make (environmental, cost, safety, space efficient) sense to move a 140lb person in a 3 ton vehicle.
A typical European car is parked 92% of the time. It spends 1/5th of its driving time looking for parking. Its 5 seats only move 1.5 people. 86% of its fuel never reaches the wheels, and most of the energy that does, moves the car, not the people.

Sound efficient?

We have a South African setting policy for the White House. South Africa: Land of vehicle flamethrowers and rape gates. If this is not the environment you want your kids to grow up in don’t advocate for the construction of fear-focused infrastructure: Prisons, gates etc. Get to know your neighbors.

When there’s a car collision, which happens 8-10 times more frequently no actions are taken to demand road safety, when there’s a ped/bike collision people lose their minds demanding gates and superficial safety measures. We need to talk.

California should hire all of 18F. we would probably pay for it with tech contracting fee savings in a few months.
I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F.

18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it.

We made this website to tell our story:

Traffic violence is so ubiquitous it's a proxy for "death that couldn't be helped". Any movie or tv show employing such a tiresome trope isn't worth my time.
