I'm a software engineer living in Southern California building cool things using JavaScript and other web technologies. I enjoy traveling to other countries and spending time in nature.
These might be my last photos from Washington this year. This was a cool sunset over the bay, but I like the contrast that came out when converted to black and white. Even though I know the sun and sky were bright red, I like that the differences in darkness […]

I love the chaos of this photo. So much noise but also an imperfect balance.

This was our first flight to Friday Harbor. The sky was much clearer which made for good sightseeing.

I really liked the contrasts in this delta of the mainland.

This was one of two flights we had to friday Harbor. There had been some forest fires in the area making for an incredible sky.

I realized I still have a bunch of photos from Washington this summer I haven’t posted yet. I like the simplicity of this one. Fittingly it’s from a fun afternoon with different Hoesterey men taking us around on their respective plate/boat.

We had a wonderful time in Ohio this week celebrating our anniversary. I’d like to thank my wife for sticking by my side for so many years. Life wouldn’t be the same without you. Your presence never ceases to bring me joy and excitement. Not every day lives up […]

Some pictures from our time at the Dallas Arboretum last month. There were _so many_ pumpkins and pumpkin structures! I loved seeing all the Oaxacan inspired art!

A nice doggy sunset after running around on the beach. Now we’re both worn out. 😄

We went to the Seattle Aquarium for the first time last week. There were some pretty impressive displays. The large tank at the new pavilion is quite impressive.

I’m so glad to have access to places like this. Even if I have to share it with mosquitoes.

We made the trek to North Cascades National Park this weekend. This remote park in Washington was very fascinating to drive through. We stopped for some short excursions and learned about the complex geology and history.

So much of this natural beauty is […]

On our way to North Cascades national park we stopped at an old growth forest. The scale of these trees was really staggering. It’s also cool to see how in a forest that old, you have generations of trees growing out of the downed trunks of previous generations […]

Had a special visitor today. Thanks for hanging around the house. It’s nice when the birds come to you instead of the other way around.🦉

Ten years ago, we picked up the sweetest dog I’ve ever known. She was excitable and loving; opinionated yet caring; goofy but always wanting to make you happy. The last couple months without her have been hard, but she is not forgotten. We wish we could have […]

Followed some strange noises at the park after our softball game and found a few of these guys chatting.

I was super pleased to have gotten this photo on the flight into NYC. I love how much is recognizable at this elevation.

Grabbed some shots of the city on a work trip last month.

Saw the newly renovated Botanical Building in Balboa Park. They did a great job reviving the place, though I miss some of the larger trees. Can’t wait to see how the building fills out over time.

I love how in La Jolla the sea lions (currently) get to do their own thing. Some people want to get close to them, but those 800 lb (350 kg) males terrify me. Please treat the animals respectfully.

Always love the views in La Jolla. 🌻🦭🏖️

We went back to the San Diego Zoo this weekend and I came home with some fun pictures. I think my favorite animals to look at were the White-fronted Bee-eater. Though the weaver birds in the same aviary exhibit were also impressive. Despite a short downpour of […]

I caught these cool shots of the Oceanside pier and harbor when flying back from Washington recently. I like how you can see the sunset reflecting off the buildings and the waves breaking outside the harbor.

Despite the poor lighting I was really pleased this kingfisher posed enough for me to snap this digi-scoped pic. I lightly edited it for extra mood.
