My dad was not a jazz fan (loved to quote "jazz is for wankers" from The Commitments). In high school, I joined the jazz band. I had a friend over and was saying, "Dad doesn't want me to get a sax." He appeared out of nowhere and said, "I think you should wait til you're married to have a sax!"

That's actually how the Americano got its name - US soldiers in Europe in WWII wanted something close to a drip coffee and thus the Americano was born.
