Found it! Half submerged in the street's rain gutter near a neighbor's house. It was obscured from the sidewalk by some shrubs or I would have likely seen it during morning dog walkies. The search is off.

Sticky traps seem less cruel the smaller the victims are. I remember using a sticky trap for a house mouse once, and woke up to find a trap full of fur, mouse droppings, and drag marks. That mouse had a bad night. I don't remember actually catching it. Maybe he decided to leave after that.

UPDATE: The fungus gnats are under control. And we have a multi-pronged plan to keep things that way. Although I do feel a little bad about using "sticky traps."

I would guess Rivers might be a plumber or a "suspect." (No intended offense to plumbers or suspects.)

I write that with the full realization that at no point in my life has MY appearance ever said "NFL quarterback." Although I do occasionally fall asleep imagining I'm throwing a pass for a pro football team.
