Peak Peter O’Mahony in the second season of Netflix’s Six Nations: Full Contact
January 20, 2025 at 10:13 AM
The ROG derby is the undoubted tie of the round of 16. What an occasion that will be.

It’ll take a massive upset for Leinster not to make their fourth consecutive Champions Cup final - second in-a-row against Toulouse?! 👀

How different Johann van Graan's time at Munster might have been if RG Snyman had been fit more often:

"He's one of the best players in the world. People are only starting to see how good he really is now.

"Fair play to Leinster for getting him. He'll make a big difference."

79 minutes gone at the end of the frenetic game, Munster trailing by two points...Jack Crowley comes up with this break from deep.

Like how Munster used Crowley as third receiver out the back of two playmakers Rory Scannell & Tony Butler.

Questionable no wrapping of the arms.

Ireland have named their 36-man Six Nations squad.

Dan Sheehan and James Lowe included.

Caolin Blade replaces the injured Craig Casey.

Jack Boyle the only uncapped player.

Hugh Cooney, James McNabney, Ben Murphy and Cathal Forde named as development players.

Also mentioned in this piece that Saturday’s game in Northampton is set to be Dian Bleuler’s last for Munster before he returns to the Sharks.

What a brilliant short-term signing the South African loosehead has been.

Big hit from Garry Ringrose on Antoine Hastoy.

Really knocked the stuffing out of the La Rochelle out-half, who had a ropey end to the game.

Caelan Doris:

26 tackles
17 carries
39 metres made
4 turnovers
2 offloads

Proper captain’s performance, leading from the front.

Ulster have a few bodies back, including captain Iain Henderson and full-back Ethan McIlroy, to face Leicester tomorrow.

Timely return for Henderson in particular ahead of next week's Ireland squad announcement.

Cormac Izuchukwu starts in the second-row.

Saracens have named a strong team to face Munster.

That back-row is particularly tasty.
January 10, 2025 at 1:10 PM
No Will Skelton for La Rochelle, who are missing a few key players.

Ultan Dillane on the bench.
January 10, 2025 at 1:08 PM
Big boost for Leinster and Ireland, as Tadhg Furlong returns from injury to face La Rochelle on Sunday.

Andrew Porter, RG Snyman and Jordie Barrett named on a 5/3 bench.

Porter to come on again after 20 minutes?!
January 10, 2025 at 1:02 PM
Conor Murray returns for Munster to face Saracens on Sunday but Peter O'Mahony has not been passed fit, which is an obvious blow.

Tom Ahern is part of a 6/2 bench with Brian Gleeson also included.
January 10, 2025 at 1:02 PM
La Rochelle hooker Tolu Latu will face a disciplinary hearing today, according to L'Equipe.

Latu could be suspended for Sunday's game against Leinster for this incident from last weekend's win over Toulouse.

Was very surprised a yellow and not a red card was given.

Stand Up And Fight and a decent lights show at a sold out Thomond Park
December 27, 2024 at 7:39 PM
Dan Sheehan is in the Leinster coaches box tonight.

Follows on from James Ryan and Caelan Doris earlier this season.
December 21, 2024 at 5:36 PM
Mild night in Belfast.

Shame there are so many key players missing from both sides but should still be a decent game.

Stade Francais lock Pierre-Henri Azagoh has been suspended for three weeks for his dangerous tackle on Peter O'Mahony.

Stade Francais lock Baptiste Pesenti has been suspended for two weeks for his dangerous tackle on Craig Casey.

One does not start a scuffle at Thomond Park without this man finishing it…

Big performance from Peter O’Mahony tonight.

There’s life in the old dog yet.

Gus McCarthy:

“ I was pretty emotional just because it’s always been a dream of mine growing up.

“I’ve always come to the games and sang the anthems. It was just a really, really proud moment, not only for myself but more thinking of my family and the journey to get there.”
November 26, 2024 at 8:57 AM
Gus McCarthy was very impressive on his Ireland debut.

Lineout needs some work but at 21, to score one try and have a key role in another four was remarkable.

The hooker's link-play is excellent. Big future ahead of him.
November 24, 2024 at 2:25 PM
Nice angle of Sam Prendergast's passing flat to the line and ability to manipulate defenders.

Bundee Aki looked like he was loving playing off him.
