Trump himself checks all the the boxes for a few mental illnesses. 100% on narcissism. His "bro" Musk is the same.

Yes but only for specific crimes & due process.

Actually his big problem is appealing to his own party. “Conservatism” means nothing in Canada. To win, he must guard his right flank. They lost the last election by splitting the vote between crazy 1 and crazy 2.

Fact is, social programs are expensive. Voters hate taxes to pay for them. This hobbles education, health care, infrastructure, climate action…. The list goes on.

No because (a) I am terrified of Musk so I feebly boycot all his stuff and (b) Comm options are a tiny part of what I use my phone for. I doubt that Starlink would improve basic com functions.

Yes but I'm afraid it's a losing cause as Trump swings his support behind authoritarian buddies the world over.

In the US, the #1 risk factor for death by COVID was membership in the Republican party.

I travelled all over US for work in the 80's and 90's. I was struck by almost universal low level of literacy. Most "working class" Americans seem to be able to read a stop sign but not directions on a frozen pizza.

Making the judiciary a branch of the executive is an essential move toward totalitarian government. More broadly, Trump will make the FBI a tool to go after his political enemies and use the courts to sue anyone who speaks up against him. Organized crime on a grand scale.

Eliminating the "carbon tax" will also eliminate the rebate checks, so it will have zero effect on citizens, but it will eliminate one feeble attempt at addressing climate change. This fundamental dishonesty speaks volumes about the man himself. It also hides his lack of policy on climate change.

There are a few mysteries that still strike awe into anyone who has put aside the platitudes of religion. We need to value our sense of wonder and our "not knowing". The biggest curse of religion is to replace wonder with lies -- curiosity with faith.

I am not an atheist since I regard the whole god issue to be a red herring. Saying I don't believe in God gives God too much credit -- too much space in our deliberations.

Compassion, at the heart of all religions I know of, is absent in Trumpism. Wait for the kind of religion that celebrated witch burning.

MAGA is a religion. To his believers, Trump is a Christ avatar. There are many clues to this. Truth and evidence are left behind. Adulation for the leader is all that's left.
