I travelled all over US for work in the 80's and 90's. I was struck by almost universal low level of literacy. Most "working class" Americans seem to be able to read a stop sign but not directions on a frozen pizza.

Making the judiciary a branch of the executive is an essential move toward totalitarian government. More broadly, Trump will make the FBI a tool to go after his political enemies and use the courts to sue anyone who speaks up against him. Organized crime on a grand scale.

There are a few mysteries that still strike awe into anyone who has put aside the platitudes of religion. We need to value our sense of wonder and our "not knowing". The biggest curse of religion is to replace wonder with lies -- curiosity with faith.

I am not an atheist since I regard the whole god issue to be a red herring. Saying I don't believe in God gives God too much credit -- too much space in our deliberations.

Compassion, at the heart of all religions I know of, is absent in Trumpism. Wait for the kind of religion that celebrated witch burning.

MAGA is a religion. To his believers, Trump is a Christ avatar. There are many clues to this. Truth and evidence are left behind. Adulation for the leader is all that's left.
