Somehow, Felix ended up in British Mandate Tanganyika (modern-day Tanzania) and was so taken with the flag (pictured) that he immediately decided that Dar-es-Salaam should be the Ballon Fraise's homeport.
The flag of the British Mandate Tanganyika Territory (196-1961). It is a Red Ensign with the Union Flag in the canton, the red field of the flag is defaced with a white badge featuring a giraffe's head.

The Cæp-Buffélaughses (the second F is silent) are quite an ancient family and the family's coat of arms is painted on the Ballon Fraise's funnel.
A coat of arms: a bend wavy or and azure, in second quarter a buffalo head caboshed sable, in the third quarter a strawberry flower crimson. The motto reads: Secundum Iffe Tacitum Est.

To their great disappointment, his horns wouldn't fit in the cockpit. Not pursuing a military career, Felix took his master's papers and bought a tramp steamer, the Ballon Fraise. A happy-go-lucky buffalo, he spends his life pottering about the oceans delivering cargoes.

It's a copy of the font from Norwich cathedral.
A copper vessel for the manufacturing of toffee from the former Rowntree's factory in Norwich. Now repurposed as the font in Norwich cathedral. For legal reasons, Dreadnought Holiday doesn't know this.
