I actually thought Murdoch Mysteries could have nailed it and it’s really bumming me out that they whiffed it so badly.

WIES gave most of the singing to Julia and Crabtree and that was a problem. If your best singers are Higgins and Violet, then Higgins and Violet had better be the emotional centre of the episode.

And the actors who can’t sing need to get fun comedy numbers or elaborate dance sequences, ie. “I’ll Never Tell” and “Dawn’s Ballet” respectively.

I watched “Once More With Feeling” afterwards as a palate cleanser and it made the issues with “Why Is Everyone Singing?” very clear.
