For future movies I'd do a combination of classic era (pre and duringclone wars, rebellion era etc) or time jump a decade or so (the former Republic galaxy shattered I to balanced kingdom, maybe some rules by a resurgent Hutt or Mando empire) and that as the new starting point for future era shows.
