Last evening, when I took Penney out into the fog for her pre-bedtime stroll. It’s the light in our driveway’s turnaround circle- look at those beams!The last two photos are abstract accidents, and may have caught a bit of the aurora. It’s a wonderful life here in the PNW. #pnwlife ##coupevillewa

The other day I was mowing the side yard and driveway edges, and this gate almost fell off in my hands. The bottom hinge had rusted through. The next day,with a new set of hinges- and with Marc’s help-we got it all fixed up. I had to bang through some concrete to get the lower hinge to fit.

Update # whatever. I’ve tried a new process: Blending the rough masses of color together using a glaze matrix, or simply a clear acrylic paste. Not only is it working to unify the local colors, it’s uniting the upper half of the figure with the lower. I worked on the grapes, too.

The latest in mermaid magic. I’ve worked up the grapevines and those luscious grapes, added some gold to her jewelry, and drawn in a zillion scales to her tail. The graphite pencil lines reflect the overhead lights, so please ignore. Many thanks to those viewing- cheers! #fantasy #mermaid #chukw

Meanwhile, back at the pier… more progress on the main figure- I’ll be adding a layer of translucent scales to her tail to add volume and blend the color elements. Thanks to you, for following my tedious progress- I’ve posted a pic of my palette for this step in the painting. Cheers- to you all!

More Magic at the Pier! I’m moving down the figure, using the color mockup as a “color by numbers” guide. The palette so far is quite limited, but will have a few splashes here and there- no pun intended.

Magic at the Coupeville Pier! I’ve finally found my bottle of ink and started building up the underpainting. I took the photo of the Pier House, and based the mermaid from the great genius, Alphonse Mucha. More to come!
