Here is my interpretation of the Supreme Court's ruling on Trump's request to limit the scope of nationwide injunctions against his unconstitutional executive orders. It now requires the affected people to organize and present class-action lawsuits as the only remedy to having their constitutional rights violated. The problem, as I see it, is "Standing". In order to file a lawsuit you must have been personally affected, in legal terms this is called "Standing". Here is the famous prose of pastor Martin Niemöller, written after WWII, modified to show what defending all of our rights will look like under this ruling: First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a socialist, I didn't have standing to file a lawsuit to defend them against the perpetrators. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a trade unionist, I didn't have standing to file a lawsuit to defend them against the perpetrators. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Jew, I didn't have standing to file a lawsuit to defend them against the perpetrators. Then they came for me—and there was no one left Standing. ...
