LeFrancq also published a couple of volumes of Doc reprints. By the way, Patricia Savage is Doc's first cousin, not his niece.

I think we know where "Kenneth Robeson" (Dent and the editors at Street & Smith) stood on the question of "Is a hot dog a sandwich?"

Nostalgia as the Bantam-era fans of Doc Savage hit their retirement years and beyond. Plus Shane Black made a big splash announcing Dwayne Johnson as the new Doc. In both cases, the excitement faded.
