I write about stuff (books = Stairway to Hell, Accidental Evolution of R&R, R&R Always Forgets, Terminated for Reasons of Taste.) Here's where I mostly write now:

I actually believed that at the time -- at least where radio music was concerned. Wrote a long essay for the Village Voice back then about 1986 being the worst radio year ever. Almost 4 decades later, I now think I was very, very wrong.

Even earlier asterisks: "Roxy Roller" (Nick Gilder's glam rock band Sweeney Todd feat. Bryan "Guy" Adams, #99 in the Hot 100, 1976); "Let Me Take You Dancing" (disco song, #62 in Canada, 1979.) I also always liked "Diana" (#21 US Mainstream Rock chart, 1985.) None of them on a Bryan Adams album.

And more in the Janis than Joni sense, I always thought. (Not sure I could explain *why* I thought that, beyond both being 2-hit wonders w/ years separating hits.) (Oh I know -- both also New Yorkers, right? More than Californians anyway.) (Though Vega was apparently born in Santa Monica, hmmm.)
