I've shot the bridges in #Pittsburgh in black and gold a thousand times, and I'm gonna do it ten thousand more, but this one is up there as a favorite. On Monday morning the rivers were like mirrors, and I probably coulda flipped this image without anyone knowing the difference.

I cannot express the amount to which this episode impressed me at the time and stuck with me over the years. A seminal moment in my childhood.
On this day in 1978, The Doobie Brothers appeared on What's Happening! in a memorable two-part episode, teaching the gang the dangers of bootlegging while performing hits like "Black Water."

Just an amazing sunrise in #Pittsburgh this morning, with vibrant color spreading the entire way across the horizon. I love capturing fiery skies like this reflecting in the frozen rivers, and today might be my favorite I've ever shot.

My goodness was it cold in #Pittsburgh this morning, and though I enjoy this weather, -7º even had me running for the car. Still, it was worth bouncing around the city for nearly three hours, capturing the frozen rivers and then afterwards a beautiful sunrise. So many images to come.

A couple more views from Friday morning in #Pittsburgh during that beautiful sunrise over the frozen rivers. In the first image I was able to frame PPG Place with icicles on the North Shore, and the second features the sun shining through the Warhol Bridge.

A couple views from the Duquesne Incline in #Pittsburgh yesterday morning as the heaviest of the snow was moving through the city. The second image looks like a scene straight out of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.

Snowy neighborhoods in #pittsburgh are some of my favorite subjects in the winter, and Frick Park and the North Side are near the top of that list. On Friday I was able to find this amazing reflection on Reynolds Street before heading over to Manchester for a snowy view of Sheffield Street.

It was a snowglobe kinda night in #Pittsburgh this evening, and I was down on the North Shore to capture it. The bridges are back to their traditional gold instead of the light show that played for the last month, and they looked beautiful beneath the falling snow.

Yes, but place them in the national semifinals anyway. Alabama and Ole Miss need to win their games or shut up.
Alabama, the first team left out of the CFP, was favored by more than two touchdowns against a Michigan team that was missing several of its top NFL Draft prospects.

One of the best in a TV news style of anchor that I fear is gone forever. He just delivered the news.
Aaron Brown, the longtime TV anchor, died on Sunday at 76. His coverage during CNN’s live broadcast of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks became one of the most well-known records of the day.

He was still in training when he was rushed into live coverage of the collapse of the World Trade Center, and his broadcast became one of the enduring records of the day.
