Inmates serving time at Alcatraz may have been victims of judicial racism or classism. But they all did receive some form of due process. That’s not true of Trump’s concentration camps. Perhaps “Gator Gulag” or “ Alligator Auschwitz” would be more appropriate.

No. It won’t disappear, and it won’t go bankrupt. If, however, Congress fails to act, the amount of benefits that can be paid will be significantly reduced. No, privatizing it would be a huge mistake.

Neither the government nor the SS administration has any discretion in how much is borrowed. The SS statute has always required the SS admin to buy interest bearing treasury bonds from the gov’t using excess revenue. The gov’t has never failed to redeem those bonds when they have matured.

Every dime borrowed by the government from the SS administration has been paid back by the government.

You’ll never get back the money you paid in because the system is an insurance plan, not a retirement or pension plan. All the dollars you paid in were sent to retirees living at the time. Your contributions did nothing more than earn you the right to collect when you reach a certain age.
