There's a difference in import permits and phytosanitary certificates and a commercially packaged food products being sent as a gift in the mail... Unless they have a fancy or unique spice....or full of Spotted Lantern Fly or something scandalous.... 😂

If you leave NL by ferry, there is a checkpoint, they'll ask about soil related products, and randomly check. You can get houseplants certified beforehand. It's nothing other than that - the pests in the soil are impossible to get rid of, so it's high risk to other provinces...
