Possibly of interest but very obscure: Necromancies and Netherworlds by Darrell Schweizer and Jason Van Hollander. Short stories about a city where a revolution overthrows the ruling priest cast and forces them to auction off carpets that have their gods trapped inside them.

Interesting that fauns, satyrs, and baphomet became intertwined but minotaur stayed separate. Did you find any connections in art between the labyrinth and the devil?

Well, monsters do change at different rates. Before rpgs "a medusa" was just a piece of art depicting Medusa, not another name for "gorgon." But Minotauros went from a guy's name to a monster type long before rpgs.
