Woodworker, gardener, reader, jam maker, just a guy with a lot of unconnected random skills that just wants to live peacefully and make art. Currently rebranding as rekenstructed, because people give me stuff and I turn it into new stuff.
Not strictly wood working, but I needed some small trellis and I had some metal scrolls and a fence board. Now my new epi cactus are very happy.

Another special order done. Absolutely huge butterflies for the garden. 46” across wing tip to wing tip.

It’s taking a lot to stop doomscrolling. I made another thing. Small lidded box from another bit of unknown wood. Tung oil finish.

A little before and after. I had this pallet for years, because, you know, it was a really good pallet. A client asked for a horse saddle stand to replace the bucket she was using. The two things met and this is the result. I am unbelievably proud of this project.

A special order from a regular client. I understand the movie “Pinocchio” from an entirely different perspective now.

I finally got around to sorting what to keep and what to get rid of from my scraps. Lots of small offcuts from high quality plywood I just couldn’t bring myself to trash. Glued it up with some other scraps and made some interesting butcher blocks.

I’m constantly trying to find ways to reuse stuff. These are cut wine bottles made into jars with finial tops made of Italian Cypress. (My finial skills still need work)

The sun still rises. The flowers still bloom. I’m choosing to take the long view of things.

The garden is still mostly asleep. A few early risers are starting to show their faces. 🌱

My first ever live edge bowl using the regular official method and not just a whole bunch of experimental crap. Unfinished Deodar Cedar from a neighbors tree.

The view from my front porch just now. I love it when random moments of nature leave me speechless.

My favorite rose, “Magic Carrousel”. The bloom is about the size of my thumb. I’ve had this plant for thirty-two years. I bought it for 1$ from discount rack at a farm stand the last time my mom and I went out shopping before I became a “grown up”.

As proof that gardens continue to be inspiring as they age and change; a tiny bowl and box I made from a pruned bay tree (Laurus nobilis) limb.

I need to do something about my doomscrolling addiction. I’ve decided that every time I have the desire to pick up my phone, I will instead write. I used to write a lot in the days before social media.
I’m sure most of it will be on par with Vogon Poetry or maybe slightly worse. One can only hope.
