Heartwarming: This drivel-spouting 'news' organization still manufactures consent the old-fashioned way just like they used to do in 2001

Oh boy, oh jeez. This one's looking like a solid 0/4 canopic jars to me I'm gonna be real. Not even a single pity jar. Not good, not good at all.

(Unironically would love a flashy action game of some sort where you get to play as a Grail Knight or Questing Knight or something.)

Honestly some of the shit that Grail Knights can get to do is crazy enough that even named Space Marines better watch themselves. Crying Super Soldier vs Nuclear Woman Respecter type shit.

The really fucked part is they've done like, a bajillion studies along that line and every single one comes out with a "yeah its actually a great idea to give the homeless money". The refusal to implement it is just the policy equivalent of trying to get a calculator to stop saying that 1+1=2.

I like to imagine there's at least one person in Japan who considers this their country's equivalent to how Final Fantasy got initially released in the west.

(Also obviously worldbuilding is at least semi-important insofar as not making a *boring* world, but the amount you need to do that is really, startlingly tiny in the grand scheme of things.

And also obviously it does depend a bit on what you're writing, like a TTRPG setting is a different beast.)
August 14, 2025 at 11:10 PM
Not that worldbuilding is bad to do if you wanna do it for fun 'cause man it is *really* fun, and I love doing it a ton and love braining through all the stuff it entails, but people do gotta realize that going super hard on it is more a thing you do 'cause you're having fun than otherwise.

There's something kind of funny in how something that on its face seems to be the most 'ideal' for showing other people your amazing world you've conjured is actually kinda dogass for that, and in many ways is more aimed at the self and personal enjoyment.

(Also the skaven book is absolutely top tier; both for how well it illustrates a lot of how they interact with eachother, and also for being one of the few things I can think of where it is very encouraged to be a backstabbing motherfucker. Also lots of fun extra little info and tidbits too)

I'm a huge fan of the 2nd edition in particular, actually was the first TTRPG I ever played; probably in part why I really love semi-random character generation, since a lot of it encourages you to roll on charts a lot while you're getting your character built up and sorted.

The RTS part hurts most to me, especially since it's got MOBAs sitting on its grave to really make sure that it's extra hard for anything new to sprout from there that isn't just another MOBA.

And ultimately, a whole bunch of bullet points doesn't make a cool and interesting setting, it just makes a list of bullet points that has no feeling and no greater conceptual themes to work with. Just a gaping void where opinions and thoughts yearn to exist within, and are denied their purpose.

I think in part what ends up happening is it feels like those people who make their entire personalities just, 'that guy who knows facts' and being able to rattle off a bunch of unimportant information without understanding why any of it matters or how any of it connects together.
August 4, 2025 at 7:25 PM
I don't know why, but I feel like it has a certain air of hyperbolic phrase to it, like two guy talking about some other conflict, one of them says something decisive yet obviously untrue about it, and the other responds with, "and I guess the Orc Wars are over too, yeah?"

Slice and Dice is pretty damn fun, if you're into roguelikes at all - its even got a demo in case you'd wanna give it a try before actually getting it. Just a one time purchase too, 8-10 bucks USD iirc?

Let's be reasonable now - I don't think the monkey needs to be trained to be more trustworthy than a business major.

Historians in the far off future discovering this line of text before they discover actual kirby things and assuming this must've been what inspired them to make the games.

Honestly the funniest part to me is that it also has forced the hands of a lot of conservatives in general, who now have to stop lusting after republican politics or else they look like buffoons.

Even if it's just a bit, feeling the overton window move even just a *smidge* to the left feels good...

There's gotta be something that really gets under AI bros skin that Air Bud has more legitimacy than their little plagarism machines ever will.
