Indeed. As the poor and downtrodden made up the great bulk of preindustrial populations it’s massively improbable. But if you’re going to believe something as improbable as reincarnation you might as well go the whole hog.

I’m sure the US will have its next Presidential Elections. But there’s a real possibility they’ll be Putin style elections in which the media & opposition is silenced or intimidated. Trump is taking Putin’s business model of total control, served by a gang of ultra wealthy oligarchs.
