Yes, it's a lack of empathy. It's also Maslov's Hierarchy of Needs. Folks trying their best to address their immediate needs don't always have the leeway to consider higher moral concerns. Which is why it's in the GOPs interest to keep them under paid and under educated.

Stop blaming individual's quality of life choices for the climate. The waste, pollution, and unsustainable choices made by corporations far outweigh any effect from the rest of us humans. Regulate corporate greed, waste, and neglect - lemme have my AC!

Start a live broadcast on Instagram or TikTok. Have someone you trust turn on notifications for your stories. There have been reports of phones being confiscated and videos erased. Send it straight to the internets. Don't give them a chance to scrub it clean.

Reason is best used as a vaccine for ignorance, as a preventative treatment. Public education, readily available books, the advancement of a scientific method and peer review meant to question and test theories rather than bow to pre-existing dogma - these can lead to a 'herd immunity' to ignorance.
