Especially given the fact that here in the US there was an incident in Florida some years ago were some self-appointed neighborhood watch guy shot and killed some kid that was walking through the neighborhood. But that wasn't like anything that's going on now.

I think focusing on the demand side, in other words efforts to reduce demand are wishful thinking. Human beings have been trying to change the way they feel since the first man or woman chewed on a coca leaf, smoked weed, drank some fermented juice, or used opium latex.

Even with the resources and laws we currently endure many suffering from opiate addiction could be helped if free buprenorphine and Narcan are available to everyone everywhere.
