Had a full spread from La Barbecue yesterday. Still a decent line for a late 2:00 lunch. The brisket is always the winner here. They’ve got some of the best, most flavorful lean brisket you’ll find anywhere.

A full spread of the good stuff today at Brisket & Rice in Houston. Those slightly sweet ribs won the plate for me. That BBQ Fried Rice was fantastic as well!

Sometimes when I’m in town, I’ll drive by Franklin Barbecue just to scope out the line. I was in luck yesterday as the line at 12:15 was only a 35 minute wait. That’s a definite stop. What a nice surprise.

I’m on roll here in West Texas. It’s like old days of my bbq road trips. Brantley Creek Barbecue in Odessa today with some great meats and an even better venue. And they’re open for dinner? It’s a beautiful thing. The brisket won the plate today.

Pachucos in Midland is one of the best restaurants I’ve eaten in this year. The menu is unmatched. Everything on my tray(s) is excellent, but the brisket is top notch. The homemade tortilla with the mole chicken is such a nice touch. And the salsa/sauce/pickle bar. Love it.

Quick stop to check into Pody’s in Pecos today for the first time in a while. Solid meats. No ribs, so I swapped in the pulled pork. And you know I had to opt in some of that hominy.

Burnt Bean Co. in Seguin nailed it today! Phenomenal on all accounts. And they opened up early to get us out of the sun. You’ve got the usuals here, plus some Moroccan Spiced Lamb Ribs. The sweeter ribs and S&P brisket were perfectly done. The Poblano Cheesy Squash was a nice surprise!

We were completely shocked to get the #1 golden ticket at 9:50am. And there were only 3 groups in line at opening. The hype has died down, but they’re still delivering some of the best bbq in Houston.

1701 Barbecue is a known commodity in Beaumont. This top 50 spot has great brisket and traditional Texas barbecue in this land of links. However, it was rhetorical turkey that actually stood out as the winner of my tray!
