Sylvester Turner won Texas-18 with 69.4% of the vote. It is a safe seat for Dems. The special election should be May 3, but it seems to be up to Gov Abbott’s discretion to schedule it. Somebody that knows Texas law, does he have the ability to *not* schedule it and leave the seat vacant until 2026?

Democrats should not attend the State of the Union on March 4, 2025. Here’s my letter to my US House Representative Chrissy Houlahan @houlahan.house.gov explaining my position:

For now, at least, Apple is holding the line on the “Gulf of Mexico” while Google has folded and renamed it the “Gulf of America” We are in the worst timeline.

Just for this text from “Kirsten Gillibrand” asking for me to complete a survey on Dem priorities. Wrote that Elon Musk’s coup is the only issue right now. Got to the end and can’t submit it without making a donation. Senator, I’ll let you figure out where you can put your survey.

Explicitly thanking Donald Trump, who is not currently President, should give anyone returning to TikTok pause. It is not the place it was yesterday. Trump is transactional. Ask yourself, what did he get in return?

And there it is. Remember, we shouldn’t be fighting left-right, we should recognize that the battle has been with the ruling class this entire time. Continue to fight.

We lost a battle. Not the war. Keep fighting. Form your communities anew. Take care of one another. If we do these things, in time, a new hope will emerge.

Fun Fact: James Woods was not, in fact, acting when he portrayed Hades in Disney’s 1997 animated classic, Hercules.

Just read/listened to “Strongmen: Mussolini to the Present” by Ruth Ben-Ghiat and I highly recommend it. The histories of the strongmen depicted here disturbingly mimic current events. Learn from the past so we can save the future.

This is Emmet. He’s named after Emmet Otter. Do we love the movie? Yes’m. 🎄

My dad’s mother made these vanilla wafers and they were his favorite cookie. We made them every Christmas. When he passed away, we handed out these recipe cards along with a packet of cookies. Thinking of him tonight. 🎄

Watched “It’s a Wonderful Life”(my fav movie) in a local theater tonight. Highly recommended. Crowd reactions make it a new and more meaningful experience no matter how many times you’ve seen the film. Jimmy Stewart is masterful, especially if you know his WWII backstory.

Not to mention, Josh Shapiro held a campaign-style photo-op with Bob Casey where he and Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed bombs at a Scranton factory.
