It’s temping, isn’t it?

And you can still buy them, and they’re still called FAB. I wonder how many people still understand the Thunderbirds reference?

Maybe she was on the right side of history after all? I’ll certainly listen to the programme.

What a brilliant anecdote!

Bought another mug, Gail. Need a nice collection, me thinks. So difficult to to decide, as they’re all great. Also hard to choose colours when your colour blind 😵‍💫

Fortunate that I’ve got an original that my parents kept from 1945. Always thought it was very poignant, even as I went through the old papers as a child.

Duly purchased thanks, (for holiday reading) but I’ll also ask for a hardback copy for my Christmas stocking

I used to struggle with covers of my favourite Beatles songs, but now I’m older and wiser, I love to hear quality versions like this.

Just ordered that mug I’ve had my eye on. I’ll show it off when it arrives.

My favourite read so far this year. I’m saving up Under The Ivy as a holiday book if I can wait that long!

Well that’s put me right off my lunchtime omelette!

We have a long history of satire in the U.K. and not paying due deference to these idiots, however high and mighty they think they are. Long may this continue!

The Other Side of Abbey Road - yes another one of my favourites. What a rich seam of great Beatles covers that still sound fresh today.
February 19, 2025 at 9:12 PM
Thanks for this, Chris. I’m a bit late to the party on these R’n’B Beatles covers, but they’re quite something! I can also recommend McLemore Avenue by Booker T. And The MGs, which shines a new light on Abbey Road

Really looking forward to hearing about the highs and lows (although hopefully more highs) of creating this masterpiece.

They could have so easily done with a run of the mill solo and it would have still been a great song, but they elevated it to a whole new level. And THAT opening chord as well!
