Genuine question. Why are ‘real term’ wages compared to 2008? I get that a lot hasn’t recovered/kept pace since then. But that applies to many areas and sectors. What is the picture if tracking to 1990 or the 80s for instance?

Is the argument that no industry should spend more on advertising than it does taxes? Also, the suggestion that any business would just cut back on advertising and keep employing the same number of people is nuts. Without advertising that business shrinks and can’t support the same jobs.

The rest of Europe isn’t scrambling to unite against him. It’s adapting to a world where they can’t necessarily rely on the US. They are two very different things. Did you want Starmer to walk into the the Oval Office and tell Trump to f-off?…not sure what that achieves.

On a more mundane level I use X for football team news. Under a team announcement there would once be useful context from fans as to if it was any good. Now it’s badly informed blue ticks with no knowledge of a club making bland comments to increase reach (driven I’m sure by the promise of £)

Spot on. This case for example - www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... - where the man admitted earning £1400 a month from his X account. (Incidentally I’m sure the headline of this article mentioned the £ figure within it when first published).
