Always reading. Interested in food, photography, fibre arts and fountain pens. Probably looking at plants, architecture and for deep shadows. Queer as hell. 🏳️‍🌈

Cozy weekend vibes only to start this grey Saturday morning with this perfect egg and bacon sandwich that was just egg yolk oozy enough to be saucy but not drip all over you.

Made right by the tiny local hipster coffee joint where I feel absolutely welcome but the spiritually oldest person ever.

Tonight was my second concert this season. As I found so often last season, the additional programmed pieces, that I generally don’t know at all, blew me away.

Tonight’s piece by composer Joan Tower, who came onto stage to introduce it, was the yet another mind blower. It was spectacular!

After chasing shadows at the @fotoapp.co photowalk this morning, I was able to make it over to Biidaasige Park to see the gorgeous canoe parade by @thebentway.bsky.social and artist Melissa McGill.

Flying to Toronto from Sweden yesterday the view of Greenland and northern QC was clear and beautiful. Until we hit the forest fire smoke.
It was a huge haze cloud for the last two hours of the flight and as we descended we saw the ceiling of forest fire smoke bisect the clouds.

Pardon me but I am looking for the Gay Cotton Chino section please.

We also stopped at Neo Coffee and they had green tea and matcha from Uji Japan, the green tea capital, that is both the loveliest town AND has the most amazing concrete architecture train station in the world.

We visited in 2017 and I nearly wept in joy at this gorgeous train station.

My goal was to partake in some of the bounty of Ontario cherry season so that I can try and make candied cherries for my Christmas fruitcake this year.

This gorgeous Camilla Wynne recipe book is so dreamy and I am an audacious homosexual so I am confident in my success.

Let’s go!

Biked over to the St Lawrence Market this morning to finally check out the relatively recently opened new North Market. With the huge side doors open and comfortable spaced aisles it was really lovely.

I know it’s not the original grand vision, but it feels like a good civic space nonetheless.

Went to the AGO and then for a wander yesterday. Caught some nice shadows.

Oh my gawd, what an evening of absolute heart filling, friend loving, queer joy and happiness to celebrate @petcri.bsky.social book launch party tonight!

It’s so wonderful to see your friends do incredible things and make art and even better in a room full of people cheering for the joy of it all.

I voted. It took me 20 minutes from home and back. I waited behind two other people to be admitted, pet a cute dog, had a lovely chat with the returning officer preparing my ballot and was done.

It took me longer to walk to and from the venue, either direction than to vote.

For Independent Bookstore day today I pre-ordered my budddy @petcri.bsky.social’s soon to be released book The Vinyl Diaries from my fave local bookstore, Type Books on Queen.

Really looking forward to reading this in a few weeks and celebrating queer joy at the book launch soon.

Whoa! The doors for the accessible washrooms on the new VIA cars are cool Star Trek curved slide-y doors. Very fun!

Visiting my brother and getting to tromp around the woods on a rainy day. We explored and stood below a beaver dam with the lake above at eye level, it is a very cool and totally surreal perspective of a lake.

We saw mr or missus beaver later too and said hi and good work.

The quick view of Lake Ontario before Oshawa from the train always makes it seem so huge. A little ocean.

On the train to Ottawa and using the lovely Yuruliku pouch that I picked up from Paper Plus Cloth last year for the first time.

It holds everything I need while in seat; my Kobo, AirPods, a charger, mints, a chapstick and my Traveler’s Notebook and pen.

You might go to a drag show and get an outfit reveal but we had a drag puppet reveal and it was GLORIOUS!

Because it was well past my bedtime by the time it was done, this is a morning shoutout to @meakoopa.bsky.social for once again creating a wonderful, welcoming and silly space for queer joy at last night’s Wicked sing-a-long.

Also this cover design?! Omg yes.

I wound up at the Eaton Centre because Apple needs you to rebuy your charging cables too often and never has the mall looked so good.

This bright sun and the white walls made it just shapes and textures and it was glorious. Normally I can’t get out of the mall fast enough but I dawdled for this.

Years ago @shawnmicallef.bsky.social said to go up parking garages for new views of a city. It may have been an off-hand comment but I took it to heart and now often do and he’s so right!

The city almost looks empty from here, also this angle of the pedestrian bridges of Canada Life building ✨.

I vaguely headed towards this new building on St. Patrick with a great lattice cladding that I have been admiring from afar.

It first peeked out at me as I crossed Grange Park under the OCAD building.

I feel like this is one of many really great new buildings after years of wall of glass condos.

Getting myself one of the more affordable tier subscriptions to @torontosymphony.bsky.social last year was one of the best decisions ever. I have LOVED attending this winter and it’s brought me so much joy.

I have been pondering my plan for the 2025-26 season this weekend and finally decided.

If you’re in Ontario, have you voted? Check in with your friends and family have they voted?

This POS keeps getting elected with next to no votes and is destroying our province.

You can vote until 9pm today, you just need ID with an address if haven’t rcv’d your voter card.

A little bit of joy this week was receiving back this fountain pen from Hinze Pens which I bought at the Scriptus show and has been with them for a nib change update. Not only is the vintage celluloid acetate gorgeous, it GLOWS, Jim did a cracker job making a custom two colour striped nib to match.🤩
