I keep saying Dems need to do a daily briefing on Capitol Hill and fill the void, fact check the WH. Hire Pete Buttigeig and give him a staff to do this.

Thanks for the conversation. I sincerely hope you consider volunteering at a public school; you might be surprised at what you find.

Because all social media is gospel. There are conservative & liberal (etc) teachers in all schools... & while I value the teaching profession, I also understand their lenses. I have 0 gaslighting intentions in this brief conversation. Student centered ... we should all try it.

Competition is not an issue on level playing fields. If indoctrination occurs it's in private schools.

Sigh...sounds like you believe the political bs about perceived liberalism & indoctrination in public schools. My mantra is to teach the truth regardless of current political ideologies & state & national noise.

Because an educated population benefits all of us. I no longer have a student attending a public school, and yet I know where and how my taxpayer dollars are spent. And, happily continue to contribute my hard earned dollars toward the betterment of my community.

I skipped nothing. Please tell me why taxpayers should pay for your private school choice. What is it that you believe private schools offer besides cherry-picked population, smaller class sizes, & religious classes?

The beauty of public education is that it is available to all, benefits the entire community, and is accountable to taxpayers.

I'm all for school choice, but if that's your choice...pay for it. OH spent 1 billion last year on vouchers to private schools, the majority of those recipients already attended their private school. I believe public schools offer the truest/best school choice while being accountable to taxpayers.

There will always be improvements needed in any system, and we should continue to be innovative in creating educational opportunities for students while being accountable to our taxpayers. But, I also know firsthand & am realistic about the multitude of challenges faced by public ed.

competition from private/charter schools that are unaccountable to tax payers, a lack of respect/value toward teaching, mental health, absenteeism, bullying, understaffing, low salaries, and lack of resources.

That is a politically charged talking point. The public school system is not failing students. Here's a few challenges we face: poverty, unfunded mandates, family involvement/engagement (for a multitude of reasons), high stakes testing, large class sizes, adequate funding by local/state/federal,

As a school board member in Ohio, I can give you numerous examples of Private school voucher students who have been removed by the private schools for a variety of reasons. Those "poor" &/or "minority" families then have to file for bankruptcy so their student can graduate from the public schools.
