Coming home from straight edge raving. Dancing is medicine. Also, I love London’s 24h tube at the weekends.

Skyscrapers. September, 2025. Toronto, Canada.

I grew up in an era when Toronto was called ‘Hogtown’ and I always thought it was because of all the Harley Davidsons. I just searched it up and apparently it’s Hogtown because of the pork industry. Whatevs, I prefer the Harley story and here’s a beauty from the other week @johnflores.bsky.social

I never thought I’d miss rain so much, but as London enters its fourth heatwave, I find myself walking in the rain as often as I can. Wednesday evening’s rain was beautiful and roses do much better in a cooler climate.

As a side note to the earlier mushroom, the Lake District was where English Romantic poets took opium and did their thing.

🍄 but in real life. Someone/something has taken a little bite. Anyway, this is the most Alice-in-Wonderland-CS-Lewis-caterpillar-and-a-hookah mushroom I’ve ever seen.

The Lammy/Vance bromance. I dunno…. I’m his constituent and I’ve never felt less represented by him than this precise moment.

I found these fellas in the window box this morning. I wonder what they’ll look like on the other side of their transformation.

Timeline cleanse. Some planting in the garden this year that I’m particularly proud of:

Agapanthus, foxgloves and enchanter’s night shade. #bloomscrolling

Stevie got on stage in a jacket that had John Lennon and Marvin Gaye embroidered in to the front in big sequins. He opened with a message of peace and kicked off his set with “Imagine” and I was nearly in tears.

When you’re this far away from the stage, it’s all about the singing and dancing and having fun with strangers around you. It was a good, wholesome atmosphere that was lively and fun. Stevie is an incredible musician/performer - one of the best concerts of my life.

When I got married and settled down in London, I would come to the National Gallery when I was homesick for Canada and gaze at this painting of a lake and a small island of evergreen trees in the distance. It reminded me of my childhood summers at the family cottage.

The National Gallery’s permanent collection is free to everyone. I come here when I’m feeling a bit down and escape into worlds across time and place. Here a painting of the Grand Canal in Venice from
around 1740 by the artist Canaleto. #London #art #baroque #neoclassical

Cute activity in my garden this afternoon. A fern leaf unfurling and a nigella flower in full bloom.
