Writer, teacher, mom, unapologetically slow runner. Will go anywhere for a good concert, but you have to let me drive.
Join @hildiebook.bsky.social and I at the Bay to Ocean Writers Conference where we will talk about how to write a 100 word story every day for a full year!

I’m sorry, WHAT?!? This is unacceptable. Turn off your AI. I will certainly be doing so here and on any app I can. I can think for myself and my “errors” are my own, thank you very much.
So @microsoft.com has apparently forced AI garbage no actual writer wants into the latest version of Word.

Here’s how to disable this insulting shit:
Here is how to disable Copilot in Word on a Mac. My version was slightly different. It was this:

Expand "Word" menu > Preferences > Personal Settings > Privacy > go down to "Connected Experiences" and click Manage Connected Experiences > uncheck all the boxes > restart Word (cont'd)

RIP David Lynch 💔
Picked up this little book of writers’ writing rituals, & I think most of em are liars — “up at dawn, 6 hours at my desk, followed by calisthenics, liquor, & reading edifying works.” But David Lynch delivers the goods.

On my (chilly—it’s in the low 30s) run today a kid of maybe 13 loped by me in shorts with “Vienna” by Billy Joel blaring from his phone. “You can get what you want or you can just get old.” I can’t figure out if this was some kind of apparition, or collectively we have just given up on making sense.

Was just reading #Wildness and came across this magical piece by @christinakapp.bsky.social "Sometimes her lips seemed strangled, oxygen-deprived after we had heard her muttering, talking to the blue lady behind closed doors. " Such an evocative story! readwildness.com/35/kapp-blue
