I have mixed feelings about going back to work in one and a half months after parental leave.
I’m trying to manifest a life where I write, draw, and work as a fulltime author, sitting in my drawing room in a house I bought, facing my garden, planning my book tours, and just beeing a free creative.

Editors are expensive, but they can teach you so much as a debut author, and make you a better writer in your future books. Worth every penny.

I've been busy this past week. I wrote around 10 000 words. That's right! One new chapter and two others rewritten.
I have to tell you, it feels like it is so much better now. I hope my editor agrees!

Today I learned that there are three main species of deer found in Yorkshire: red deer, roe deer and fallow deer. Red and roe are Yorkshire’s only native deer species, while fallow was introduced by the Normans in the 11th century.

My story starts in England, so I’m knee deep looking for ancient woodlands around York that would fit my story. History here is important, somewhere near Viking archeology or mounds.

I just drew the academy for my fantasy map. Added some elements from Norse architecture, plus the real building that inspired the academy.

I referenced the direwolf in my YA fantasy novel but I am now removing it. I thought it would be a fun reference, but it’s now a reminder of irresponsible biogenetics misinformation parading as conservation, and I want no part in normalising this kind of science.

I sent my manuscript to my developmental editor. Being the perfectionist that I am, it is very painful to send something that I am not 100% sure about, something that I know needs more work. I'm trying to remind myself that is the reason I hired an editor.
