That is unimaginable! I moved away from Modesto in 1988…these are late August temps (and rare) from back then. I remember 104 being an extreme outlier.

I am in midtown, so not the highest density of bears….but I turn in fresh material immediately and keep it covered. The only compost/bear interaction I have had was the time the bear used one of my three bins as a step to get over the fence.

I have been the US gov colleague who has withdrawn from authorship in several papers over my 25 years with the feds. Some agencies (one) does not allow any policy recommendations in scientific publications.

That is crazy! My memory may be faulty - but I do not remember March temperatures like that (I moved away in 1988).
