That feels accurate for villains in general. They tend to be focused on themselves more than heroes. Redemption arcs almost always involve making connection.

Okay…the mentor or sidekick to which side? I can see the fun in writing for either side…personally, I love writing an amazing sidekick who works as a foil for my hero or villain to show off their greatest strengths and flaws. Mentors can be an interesting relationship to develop.

That makes sense. I think it’s important to make both your hero and your villain the hero in their own minds, and flaws are important for both. Both can have their own codes…I generally see the villain as more self-focused and the hero as other focused. You?
