one of them just reached out to me and shouted "your sock is untied" as i walked past in the pouring rain. i mumbled "thank you" and kept walking. looked down. did a triple take. my shoes were both tied. no socks were visible.

i just signed up and made Kagi my browser default. sweet relief. visual hierarchy. instant results. no more embarrassing AI overview widget trying to bullshit me with conversational language. 🧘

This message is brought to you by @kagi.com, a good ol' fashioned world wide web search engine

what’d you do to your building manager lol

Ah, missed this, sorry. Intended audience is broad. A hope is to generalize a lot of to-date technical lingo. What you’re doing looks to be related. Let me know if you’d like to discuss

Oh goodness same. That said, i've been a loyal Lindberg eyewear customer for many years now. Frames are lightweight, last a lifetime, can be endlessly customized before ordering. Expensive, but, get sized, buy once, have frames replaced if prescription changes.

Today, in super fucking biased bullshit polling!

(EMILYs List, the organization that did the poll, has endorsed and is fundraising for Mills, which is how most polling works)

Understandable. If you do decide to step away, I hope you check back in from time to time. The Bluesky platform, and the underlying protocol, are in an awkward liminal space. Many double binds. I have hope that what's emerging will be a healthier way to do big world and locally focused online social

Transparency is a good step, but at this point there’s a T&S credibility problem. “We don’t post about reasons for content takedowns,” has been the official and unofficial line (as recently as yesterday). Now the T&S account is skeeting about a content takedown, tagging the account in question?

slander!

I too favor Warn over Hide. fwiw most of these labels have existed in the same place for years. The quoted post seems like this is a recent change and… it not

Self-selecting? Sure, protocols and platforms are that. But i think there are more courteous and helpful ways to describe Mastodon. It has its place, and I respect people that use it to find and communicate with folks of similar interests. Online social is in a very liminal space.
November 4, 2025 at 2:41 AM
Eh, Mastodon was built on ActivityPub which has been around a long time. Web standards hopefuls (myself included) appreciate ActivityPub for what it is. Before Bluesky it was the only potentially open standard that worked in some ways as a small-world social alternative to Twitter.

I suppose we’ll see as ecosystem dynamics evolve. My hope is we achieve better identity-level interoperability across social platforms, and healthy environments for different types of conversations continue to emerge. Big world, small world, professional, personal, special interest. All have a place
