Comet Tsuchinshan ATLAS on the night of October 14th! The tail extended 20 degrees visually, and the antitail barely passed 3.
I’m still working on the DSLR shots, but this is accurate to the visual appearance.

Below is my finished timelapse of the May 10-11th global solar storm! Captured in the dark skies of Toelle, Utah, it was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen, and a privilege to photograph.

Watched Europa enter Jupiter’s shadow today. Very cool to see the steep drop in brightness as it crossed the disk.
Such a cool bit of geometry that Europa is hidden from the sun, but is still technically “visible” from our point of view!

Hello to the entire nation of Brazil! 🇧🇷
I’m an astronomer in my spare time, and I intend on being more active here, so here is a small sample of some images I’ve taken!

We’ve got Mars and Saturn! Saturn’s rings are nearly perfectly edge on, and Mars has an extremely distinguishable waxing gibbous phase! A very cool combination of oddities this morning.

Btw this isn’t a real image of the helix nebula.
Here are some real ones!

Got my first photos of saturn this season, I’ll finish processing them later but I thought the raws looked cool.
Also, bonus first Mars, only 4” so no detail :D

Getting word now that this CME is perfectly aligned with the earths magnetic field
We’re pushing towards a max strength aurora tonight y’all.
Both data streams are exiting the graph lol. This is gonna be cool

Second impact(?) this is going to get weird very quick.
From what I understand this could either be the main part of the first CME, or a second shock front hitting, like the blast before the wind. Either way, stuff is happening!

First impact it looks like. Protons are hitting earth hard and fast, but looks like they’re slowing down for the moment
