The performances are great, and I am all in on the stylized cinematography. I can't stop thinking about the music.
It makes me feel nostalgic, terrified, and empathetic for bad decisions.

In January I discovered Severance and binged season 1 and in February and March I watched S2 week to week with everyone else.
Very different experiences. But, Severance continues to top my TV Show Power Rankings (if I had one) as celebrated by Choreography and Merriment.

Fell so far behind that I'm closing the loop on March on May 4th. 🤦
My first Wes Anderson movie in honor of the passing of Gene Hackman. I was surprised to find a number of very curious performances of which my favorite was probably Gwyneth Paltrow's Margot.

Higmmugh Grant, Sophie Thatcher, and Chloe East all put in performances that make this tense thriller very enjoyable.
The first 30 minutes of this movie Hugh Grant is masterful is oscillating between earnestly curious to downright dastardly as the girls try to assess the situation.

During that same work trip, with every TV station in Spanish in the hotel room, Electric State popped up on the Netflix feed so I gave it a shot.
I would have been better off watching it in Spanish I think.
Remember Chris Pratt from Parks and Recreation?

I have never played Super Mario 3D World and picked it up for MAR10 Day on sale before a work trip and am so happy I did.
Immediately I was punched in the face with nostalgia as I explored a combination of Super Mario Bros 3 and Mario 64.
...and the music... 👌

After Mickey 17, I wanted to go back to an older Bong Joon Ho film and experience his affinity for 'creatures'.
This was a wonderful straight up monster flick with characters that could have fallen right out of the Parasite script.

Bong Joon Ho's follow up to Parasite is not quite on the same level but probably not trying to be.
I found it hilarious. Robert Pattinson was unbelievable. Really enjoyed Naomi Ackie as well.
The space rock scene brought me back to the Parasite birthday party. Loved it.

Appropriate since I'm in Florida this weekend.
Following up on Sean Baker's work after loving Anora last year and this was exactly what I was hoping for in his backlog.
The young actors and actresses are just incredible.
A nostalgic tragedy.

The thing I love the most about Avowed is probably the vivid colors it uses in its visual style.
So much fantasy, sci-fi, and horror just lives in these drab gray zones and Avowed is strikingly colorful.
The narrative is not grabbing me but it's fine. Most importantly, it's fun.

It's been a very busy month with lots of travel both for work and personal.
But it's a Friday afternoon and I'm poolside so perfect time for some rapid fire.
📽🎬 One of Them Days 💸🧯
Really funny. Friday Vibes. SZA and Keke Palmer were both great.

If you can guess what show this is, congratulations?
Also, thank you Mrs. Angel for your tireless work.

Flat out rivaling Severance for the best piece of media I've consumed this month.
@sunsetvisitor.studio demonstrates how their approach to storytelling translates perfectly to video games while also challenging the status quo.
Can't stop thinking about this game.

Not sure if being a cat owner introduces bias here, but I loved this absolutely delightful (90 minute!) film about a cast of animals forced onto an adventure by the ecology around them.
The hint of fantastical with no real explanation felt well balanced.

I turned it on because I was curious about the episode 1 finale 'twist'...
But this week's penultimate episode of season 1 was way, way better than it had any right to be.
Of course watching Sterling K. Brown is a good way to spend an hour, but this show is good.

The first Citizen Sleeper was always on my backlog but I never got to it and I prioritized the 2025 release instead.
The story and the characters are amazing. The character art is just superb.
The dice roll mechanics do well to propel you through this story.

The movie was fun, especially J.K. Simmons as Milton Berle showing Chevy Chase 'the business'.
The SNL 50 concert was awesome. Probably enjoyed that more than the 50th anniversary episode itself.

Well, they aren't all classics...
My wife and I cozied up in front of the fireplace and assumed there'd be a solid floor established by Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon and the conceit of two families double booking the same venue for a wedding.
Not so

Two masterful performances by Willem DaFoe and Robert Pattinson.
Alien and familiar as a native New Englander in different ways but this movie makes you reconsider how you define isolation.
My second Eggers movie and looking forward to Nosferatu.

I thought the trailer had spoiled the twist in this movie until I got to the end and was floored.
Edward Berger and Ralph Fiennes propulse you through what could be extremely dry subject matter.
Really enjoyed a number of performances here.

At first, I recognized this movie as the poster excessively advertised in the MAX streaming app.
But this was much better than I expected. I realized it was written and directed by Alex Garland.
Solid acting performances and a pretty good angle on the idea. Worth a watch.
