Once again the seriousness of heatwaves played down by coupling the article with a picture of people enjoying the beach.
These heatwaves can kill people and animals.
Needs to be taken seriously!

Lucky we don't exist in a two party state and that we have the option of preferential voting.
Minors and Indi's with better foreign policy are the way to go, with the back-up of preferencing your vote to the least bad major.
We can have a voice on this matter.

Yet again the ABC downplay the consequences of climate change by accompanying this headline with a picture of people enjoying a nice day out in the sun.

Be better.

I highly recommend reading this book by Dr Mark Cross. It provides an understanding of the state of the Australian public mental health care from the perspective of a psychiatrist that's worked in the system, and how he would change it for the better.

They have been ringing the alarm bells for years and the government hasn't listened. It's not about the money. They could walk into a better paid private job tomorrow. They want to work in public to protect our most vulnerable citizens. The government is scapegoating them to cover it's own mistakes

Psychiatrists receive patients that are the most vulnerable, critical cases. Cases that cannot be turned away. Therefore existing psychs have to cover the staff shortfall. Being overloaded means they can't provide adequate care and this will lead to deaths. Deaths that will be blamed on the psychs.

Also note in this article that NSW psychiatrists are the lowest paid in the country. 1st year consultants in WA earn 51% more, in VIC it's 30% more

"Staffing shortfall of 140 psychiatrists in NSW". Given there are currently around 285 registered psychiatrists in NSW, that's a 39% vacancy rate. And it's not been a short term lack of staff this has been going on for a while

Psychiatrists in this state are threatening to resign en masse. What's the dispute about?
Around 200 psychiatrists in NSW's public health system have submitted their resignations amid an ongoing pay dispute with the state government.

The increased pay request is there to entice more medical professionals into the field due to the critical understaffing.
Don't fall for the propaganda. This ain't greed, it's about structural change.
