Fun fact: several years after his Provisional Government was deposed by the Bolsheviks in 1917, former Russian prime minister Alexander Kerensky married Brisbane-born Nell Tritton and relocated briefly to peaceful, leafy Clayfield in Brisbane’s northern suburbs www.smh.com.au/world/alexan...

It’s estimates time in Queensland and today was my department’s turn to front hearings at parliament in Brisbane. Was reminded it’s 31 years since Wayne Goss’ government introduced the state’s budget estimates committee system. Here’s Goss and offsiders 👀 at the first estimates hearings in June 1994

For the nostalgia-minded, 85 years ago tonight Brisbane’s Cloudland ballroom held its first evening ball, with attendees dancing on the building’s renowned sprung wooden dance floor and taking in inner-city views from atop Bowen Hills. A much missed Brisbane landmark.
