The DPP: 64% of cases are not tried on the day their trial is scheduled to take place because the defendant enters a guilty plea at last possible moment. “From their perspective the case may collapse. Guilty defendants know delays often mean victims withdraw”

In Spain storms earn names only for severe impacts, like orange or red alerts for winds over 90 to 110 km/h or, for that matter, intense rains risking floods. We are now into Storm Nils, our SEVENTH since January. Some say it’s weather. Actually it’s climate change. This is not normal.
