This is such a good thread. Pretty sure it paints a far rosier picture than the reality but it’s communication by a grown-up for grown-ups. The big takeaway? Inside government they believe growth is going to be higher than the OBR forecast. That’s why they’ve backdated tax rises. A big gamble.
Rightly lots of debates about growth this weekend - rightly because it was low productivity growth that saw wages entirely flatline during the 2010s.

I have absolutely loved the energy of the new #Corbyn party launch. What do we want, a party name, when do we want it, after a committee has deliberated public suggestions because we aren't imaginative enough.

I don’t have a sigh weary enough for this BS. Labour will not - can not - beat Reform by mimicking reform. It can only beat Reform by tackling disillusionment and discontent. It needs to deliver,deliver better & deliver faster on the change that was promised and give people a vision for the future.

My prediction for US politics, is that it’s going to be a wild ride for the first year, then the president will run out of steam and play a lot of golf. Focus will then turn to the mid terms which should change the dynamics. Potentially he could be a lame duck for the last 2 years.

The Employer's NI increase was a big mistake and an inhibiter to growth. Was really surprised at that move and it was clear to almost everyone that this would create fiscal pressure down the line. Time for Labour to change course. #LabourBudget

I have a theory about the rise of Trump and the threat of Reform. Politics is simple and they get it. People need food, a home, heating, a job and a sense that better days are ahead. On the flip side they fear that immigration threatens those needs and mainstream politicians are detached from them.
