Tenuous family history link, my 4x great grandad David Wright was a gardener at Roe Head, Mirfield (now Hollybank school) where for a time the three Brontë sisters were educated.

Spent many a happy hour at the archives in my previous working life

I have my grandads autograph book which included this little gem from 1913! It was also his war diary with details of when he joined “the colours” on 14 March 1917 aged 18. He was gassed in Bethuen, France 23 May 1918, luckily he survived or I wouldn’t be writing this!

Always fascinated by the pneumatic tube system that transported sales slips & money around the store.

My 7 x great grandmother Mary Wright gave birth to John who was born in 1758. She was base begotten so I’m unable to find any information further back. I’ve managed to establish 16 generations on other branches as my family have not wandered further than #Halifax & #Mirfield

My 2 x grandad Harry wrote the book “A treatise on advanced worsted drawing”. He died whilst playing bowls at Thrum Hall bowling club, Halifax. Interesting grandads.

My 2 x grandad Abel captained Halifax rugby league team in 1895 when rugby league & rugby union split.
