I am in Huntsville for Weird Al's show tonight and the timing could not be better for him to pay tribute to his inspiration

Lifeforce (1985) absolutely whips. It has everything.

give me a single image from a film that immediately makes you hear the song from the soundtrack in your head

My new favorite AI slop trend I've been seeing is made up sequel movie posters.

American Pie 5 starring Jim Milf would do numbers on Tubi

Honorable mentions:
- Alien: Romulus (2024): Fede Álvarez killed it
- Lifeforce (1985): Insane movie that has everything
- The Quick & the Dead (1995): Western w/ Sam Raimi flair
- Baskin (2015): Turkish horror worth dealing w/ subtitles to watch
- The Kiss of the Vampire (1963): Gothic Hammer-core

11. Kotoko (2011)

If you want to watch an effective and challenging movie about mental conditions, boy do I have a suggestion.

For as well known as Shinya Tsukamoto for his body horror movies, this stood out as easily my favorite of his I've seen so far.

10. Lost in America (1985)

Between this and Real Life (1979), this turned into a a year of me discovering how much I love Albert Brooks movies. What could be more relatable than wanting to just "drop out of society" and find yourself? This has turned into a comfort watch for me this year.

9. Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005)

Put this on your spooky movie month list. Super fun and innocent.

8. Inside Out 2 (2024)

See, Pixar *can* still make top tier movies. Teenage emotions are complicated, and I love how they approached it in this.

7. American Psycho (2000)

Managed to go into this completely blind, other than knowing that it has a Verhoeven-esque reputation of being misinterpreted. What a performance by Christian Bale.

If you have a chance to listen to Mary Harron's commentary, it is absolutely worth your time.

6. Talk to Me (2022)

In an ocean of possession horror movies, I loved how new and authentic this felt. Pretty dang impressive for a full feature directorial debut.

5. Godzilla × Kong: The New Empire (2024)

Godzilla vs Kong rocked, and GxK rocked even harder. The peak of the Monsterverse flicks, and I won't be convinced otherwise.

4. Oldboy (2003)

Do not look up a single thing about this movie and just watch it. Gorgeously shot.

3. Little Shop of Horrors (1986)

I miss Rick Moranis and I hope he is living his absolute best life not getting dragged into Ghostbuster sequels

2. Fargo (1996)

Perfect movie. Yes, I know I'm almost 30 years late to the party on this one.

Because no one asked, my favorite movies that I watched this year:

1. To Live and Die in LA (1985)

Incredible from start to finish, & not just because it has one of the best car chase sequences I've ever seen. Friedkin at his best.

It's a crime that this is only on disc & shoddy YouTube uploads.
