Continuing the Tales From The Sketchbook is the Legion of Super-Heroes! This is my favorite team of all time in comics and not necessarily the ones depicted below. But I do love all of them. I'm still working on my coloring and need to put more into my backgrounds. Still a work in progress!

Currently reading the comic that started it all! The first appearance of perhaps the greatest super-hero team ever conceived…The Legion of Substitute Heroes! Polar Lad! Night Girl! Stone Boy! And The Chlorophyll Kid! And it’s a darn good yarn. Adventure Comics 306. A new prized possession.

Trying to do more coloring and decided to draw a montage piece of Karate Kid and Princess Projectra from the Legion of Super-Heroes. Both characters were created by the late and great Jim Shooter, when he was only 14 years old, and Curt Swan.

Happy early Halloween and my one contribution to Inktober…Frankenstein’s monster! Made with quill, brush, and India ink. And love.

Currently reading: The Tomb of Dracula Omnibus Volume 01 and just in time for Halloween too! This is such a great collection and thank goodness for it too because the individual issues are pricey. Gene Colon is my favorite artists of all time and this makes it extra special.

Another Tale from the Sketchbook but this time in color!

Hal Jordan as Green Lantern. I've been bearing through all the Green Lantern stuff right up until after the Death of Superman before Ron Marz (thank goodness) takes over the series from a not shall be named writer.

I'm a huge fan of 2000ad and I've had a subscription since 2016. I absolutely adore Judge Joyce from the Emerald Isle. He was created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon and here's some fan-art in the @expatnerd.bsky.social style. I misspelled Joyce on his badge. Whoops.

Another Tale from the Sketchbook and continuing on my big Captain America phase, Nick Fury and the Countess Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.

Did she love Nick Fury or did she want to kill him? I think a bit of both.

I've been gobbling up indy comics from the 80's and I discovered Ms. Tree from Max Collins and Terry Beatty. It's such a great comic.

I created a bit of fan-art in the @expatnerd.bsky.social house-style. The perspective is off but hey, you gotta learn somewhere!

I’m just really loving Action Comics right now with Mark Waid and Skylar Patridge on the book. We’re reinventing Superboy and they even put him back in the red sweater.

Currently reading: Judge Dredd Megazine 484!

I love the Megazine. A big highlight is Rok the God from John Wagner, Alan Grant and Dan Cornwell. I missed this the first time around and it combines sci-fi with soccer. And I hate soccer. But I love this!

And by soccer I mean football.

I call this sketch Red Skull Triumphant because, well, I guess Red Skull killed Captain America like he wanted to all along.

I always liked Jack Kirby's depiction of Red Skull in the earlier stories. He exaggerated the skull, gave him bad teeth, yet gestured him as a sophisticated Bond Villain.

Here's another piece I did in the @expatnerd.bsky.social house-style. Shako! Shako was one of my first collected editions that I bought in the world of 2000ad right after I jumped into that world almost ten years ago in 2016.

Shako tears off arms, mauls and eats people. It's a wild ride.
