The only surprise was that the profile wasn’t written by Chris Cuomo to create a journalistic ethics singularity

I once saw this performed at a former jail on the site of a former Norman castle while on a date with an actress who was in Harry Potter. But this cast seems like it’ll actually be more memorable

This is why people believe in psychics

Thanks. The brackets creates a nicer separation, but it also looks kinda weird so I’m torn

Yes, the Iliad, the story that famously has multiple princesses that are being fought over (Briseis was the daughter of a priest, that’s different)

To me, filibuster nuking was the thing that always stood out as the logical conclusion to this, and yet Democrats never included it in their messaging, which shows they maybe didn't want it to be on the table.

This is inspired in part by the demise of #mapoli Twitter, as documented by @jenndotsmith.bsky.social and others, which meant we lost that real-time newswire element, and Bluesky isn't yet able to recreate it.

Public policy runs on press releases, statements, testimony, event announcements, etc. We want all of those easily searchable in one place by bill, legislator, keyword, and for people to set up alerts.

But what format would be most convenient is still TBD and we want your input before building.

The closest parallel is when Manchin said he was finally against BBB and he got lit up by other senators and then about a week later had the IRA framework

How was that possible? This was obvious since March and yet there was no group in the Senate Democratic caucus drawn up to map out various tactics and scenarios to get everyone aligned before starting this?

Clearly 1 didn’t work but it probably wasn’t going to.

2 was the real reason for the shutdown but apparently not for some senators

If 3, this deal is probably worse than no shutdown.

Moral of the story: they started this on October 1 but clearly didn’t have a plan thought through

I’m hearing this in Nathan Fielder’s voice

I was talking with someone who worked in a "part-time" blue state legislature and they said a lot of their legislators are lawyers because their law firms see it as good advertising and are okay letting them skip out on work when needed
