I think, in the end, there's a lot more to this move than attendance. I'm not sure that was a driving factor in the decision. It gives their expanded building a primary tenant to fill dates and keep people at the rink longer. Even if it's only a few hundred. Lots of ways to make money there.

Not many people were going to Fox Valley, either. The way I see it is that the market is never really going to get on board with junior hockey en masse. The building gets a primary tenant to fill dates and sell some concessions. If they get close to what they got in Geneva, it's a win.

I think it's a little too new. Harvard, obviously has some serious concerns given how that school has been targeted. It's something everyone is staying fairly aware of, but it has not paused the efforts to pursue players who will require visas. Definitely something tha tis being monitored.

Furthermore, the U.S. hasn't won a silver medal since 1950 in the event. Now 20 minutes way from at least their best finish at a Men's World Championship in 75 years.

They can't make a huge jump, but the committee could still potentially place them there if they feel it can be done without diminishing bracket integrity. They'll make some decisions based on attendance benefits if it fits.
